Crazy hard winds are hitting the area today. Inclement weather is never something we ever want as teachers as we get kids getting stir crazy in class. Their little 5-6 year old bodies need to move and being indoors is not conducive to that.
Edit: Lights are out... Thanks Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) said no one ever... Crazy winds + no electricity= craziness. Crossing fingers it is temporary as it sounds like it might last all day. Edit #2: So as most have heard, lights will be out tomorrow as well and we will have to cancel classes. The fact that it is hot is the reason why the district deemed it necessary. We are the first school school to have suffered from this PSPS so it is a learning opportunity for the district as up north, its been happening and they've figured it out. Crossing fingers that we have electricity on Monday as I know my own 2 kids will be driving me crazy as well.
