Missed my kids! They seem to have grown up so much during the break. Can't wait to watch them continue to blossom as the year continues. We welcomed the year with Alex turning 6! Check out some pictures of the kids eating their cupcake and enjoying the sun.

The kids did so great. Rocked 2 songs. Love them so much! Thank you all for the last 86 days of school! Can’t wait to see what the next 90 days have in store for us.
Our final performance was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! They did so well. So proud of them. We will continue to have 'hip hop' for the 2nd half of the year. Another performance for the end of the year. They've been working on the Baby song and ABC song was recently added. Lectura- 90% of the day is in spanish
Matematicas- This is in spanish tooFor math, we have continued working on counting to 100 in Spanish, writing to 30 and comparing numbers to 10. For comparing, we have been using the terms "mayor que" (>), "menor que" (<) and igual a"(=). By the end of the year, they should be able to count and write to 100. They should know how to to identify the written numbers from 0 to 20. You can use this resource to have your child trace numbers for homework until they are able to do independently. Science- 10% englishWe've been working on learning about bats. Some big words they learned are: nocturnal and echolocation. They have enjoyed watching videos to see what a real bat looks like and to see the size. Many had misconceptions that bats are all blood sucking vampires. Too cute! We learned that most eat fruit and insects, they are the only flying mammal and that they are found everywhere on the earth, except on the north and south poles.
Crazy hard winds are hitting the area today. Inclement weather is never something we ever want as teachers as we get kids getting stir crazy in class. Their little 5-6 year old bodies need to move and being indoors is not conducive to that.
Edit: Lights are out... Thanks Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) said no one ever... Crazy winds + no electricity= craziness. Crossing fingers it is temporary as it sounds like it might last all day. Edit #2: So as most have heard, lights will be out tomorrow as well and we will have to cancel classes. The fact that it is hot is the reason why the district deemed it necessary. We are the first school school to have suffered from this PSPS so it is a learning opportunity for the district as up north, its been happening and they've figured it out. Crossing fingers that we have electricity on Monday as I know my own 2 kids will be driving me crazy as well. Videos introduced

Our word this week was "la". "La" is the equivalent to the but referring to feminime words. This article will become very important as Spanish language does not have a universal article. Now students are able to read and write sentences such as "Soy la _." (I am the _.) This is a great link to go over and read a way better explanation of the function of articles in Spanish. https://www.spanishdict.com/guide/el-or-la-an-introduction-to-spanish-articles Math 0-5, counting, writing and understandingIn math, we have been working on understanding numbers 0-5. Some vocabulary words that we worked on this week were "contar" (count), "orden" (order), "después" (after), "antes" (before) and all the number words "cero", "uno", "dos", "tres", "cuatro", "cinco". These word cards will be in homework binder for you and your child to review. Did you notice how "orden" and order look and sound similar? Words that do that are called COGNATES. I specifically point that out to the students to make them comfortable with learning Spanish. The dot cards above are used to help students learn automaticity. The term that is used to refer to these dot cards is SUBITIZING. There is a lot of research that states that when students see numbers in patterns, the foundation for number sense is stronger. We "play" a game where I show them the cards and they have to tell me how many there are. They have gotten very comfortable with smaller quantities such as 0-4.
